I am safe right here 

I am safe, ignore my fear

Thoughts crawl on my skin until I can’t sleep 

Itching that I can’t shake 

So instead I lie awake 

Betrayal of my mind, 

Occupied all the time 

A part of my brain that keeps 

Twisting, twitching, and turning

Until discomfort surrounds me whole 

Drifting me off to sleep

I wake and I remember 

I am safe right here
